Wednesday 17th March 2021
It is so lovely to be back in school with the all the children. Another new normal has resumed and the children have settled brilliantly. We are so proud of them. A few photos of some of the things happening this week: music lessons have started again, ‘Write Away’ extended writing sessions in Year 4 and some focused group work in our new learning lobby and library.
We are expecting to hear further news about the planned return to school on 8th March shortly. The Government have promised to give Headteachers and schools two weeks’ notice of this to allow us to plan properly. As always, as soon as I hear anything, I will work through the guidance and expectations and then inform parents of our plans. On our INSET day on 22nd February we will work on our curriculum and the changes we need to make to ensure that we support the children’s return to school focusing on their wellbeing as well as academic progress. We really can’t wait to have a full school again and enjoy the children face to face.
Our leadership email will be checked by myself over half term regularly should you need any support or advice. Although the normal sort of half term activities are very limited, I hope that you can enjoy the rest and that your children will get a good break to refresh them for the second half of term. We are lucky to live in a beautiful area with such wonderful outdoor spaces and I’m sure you will take advantage of that. I would like to take this opportunity to wish you a happy and healthy half term.
With best wishes
Mrs Jo Leatham, Headteacher

We have had to rethink some of our prefect duties this year due to Covid-19. One of the new roles is working with me to lead the ‘Big Question’ assembly on a Monday. At the end of each week we prerecord the assembly for classes to use on a Monday. The prefects research the question and write their own script. They also look through the work created by different classes and decide who needs recognition for their work. Last week’s focus was anti-bullying and my prefects have had a tough job deciding who needs an award.

They are a fabulous year group who have made such progress both academically as well as emotionally. We are SO proud of you. It was great to be with year 5 who had to work this afternoon to move essential kit around an obstacle course called – Earthquake. Once the local fox stopped basking in the sunshine on the course lots of problems solving and planning took place to secure successful completion.
