Great to see Coach Shuan and our Year 6 Sports Leader providing a club at lunch time to encourage and promote sport.  This club slot will also be used to train on specific skills for our teams who are competing in events against other schools.

Thursday 10th October 2019

Today Year 5 wrote their own assembly and performed to their families. This was based on their residential to Stubbington.  We all thoroughly enjoyed hearing about their adventures. Well done year 5.

Monday 8th October 2019

Exceptionally proud of our prefect team today as they led tours of our school to over 40 parents at our open morning today.  They confidently highlighted all the things that makes our school so special as well as answering all the questions the potential new parents had. What great role models.  Well done prefect team.

Thursday 3rd October 2019

I have been lucky today, spending some time in different year groups. Year 6 have been writing some amazing blogs about their time in Osmington and they are nearly ready to be published. I listened to year 3 rehearsing for their Little Red Hen performance. Wow – what amazing singing.  This afternoon I was invited to a royal event in year 1 and 2 to watch their coronation celebrations.  #learning is such fun

Wednesday 2nd October 2019

A huge thank you to Mrs Hudson who has made our reception area look beautiful with an autumn Harvest display. It looks amazing! We are now taking donations for this to support Farnham Food Bank. Please do support our local community by bringing in: tinned carrots, roll on deodorant, rice, savoury biscuits and crackers.   Thank you

Tuesday 1st October 2019

After all the voting on Democracy Day I had great pleasure in announcing the new young leaders across our school. I look forward to hearing all about the differences the new leaders are going to make in their new roles in our school.  #wanting to make a difference

Friday 27th September 2019

What a wonderful surprise I had from 4 children in year 3 today who had a left a note on my desk about how our school could help the environment.  They had been inspired by my assembly on Monday about Greta Thunberg and how ‘one small person can make a difference’.  #inspiring #leading #improving

Wednesday 25th September 2019

I was lucky enough to spend some time with our new reception children who are half way through their second full week of school.  They were having an amazing time exploring their outside space, experimenting in the water tray predicting objects that sink or swim and drawing and talking about special people in their lives.  Well done Rainbow class you are working really hard.

Tuesday 24th September 2019

Today I drove in torrential rain to join year 5 on their residential in Stubbington.  Luckily for us part way through our morning beach walk the sun broke through the clouds and we enjoyed a fairly dry day.  It was great to be with year 5 who had to work this afternoon to move essential kit around an obstacle course called – Earthquake.  Once the local fox stopped basking in the sunshine on the course lots of problems solving and planning took place to secure successful completion.

Friday 20th September 2019

A fantastic Democracy day which was opened by our MP Ranil Jayawardena who spoke to us in assembly about democracy followed by some great questions from our children.  He met with our new School Captains and Vice Captains – congratulations to them. Finally the polling station opened and children across the school voted for eco warriors, school council, and house captains as part of our new young leaders programme.

Thursday 19th September 2019

Much excitement around the school as we get ready for our first democracy day tomorrow. The prefects helped me to set up our ‘polling station’ and organise ballot boxes.  Super speeches took place for school council, eco warriors, librarians and house captains.

Tuesday 16th September 2019

Today we welcomed Shaun from Sports Stars to our school. Shuan is our new sports coach and will be working with each year group across the school over the next academic year.  He will also be supporting us in coaching children ready for matches and tournaments against other local schools. This term he is working with year 1 and 2.

As you know we have been trying to enhance our dining experience in our ‘Crondall Cafe’ . A huge thank you to my Mum who made table decorations for all the tables.  The children thought it looked beautiful today and I am sure you will agree.

Friday 13th September 2019

I have been away with year 6 in Osmington for their residential and have struggled with signal and technology the last few days. A fabulous time challenging ourselves and making memories to cherish.

Tuesday 10th September 2019

Lovely to welcome our new reception children this week.  They have settled quickly into our routines.  Some stayed for lunch for the first time with their families.  We look forward to getting to know them better over the coming weeks.

Friday 6th September 2019

It has been a busy week with all classes starting their topics with a stunning start. Today year 1 and 2 were very excited as they had received a letter from the King of Nearland asking for their help.  We will have to visit their class pages over the coming weeks to find out if they have managed to solve his problem.

Welcome back to the new academic year.  We have been enhancing our kitchen over the summer rebranding it ‘The Crondall Cafe’ and creating more of a relaxing dining experience. The children thought it looked great!

Monday 16th July 2019

A wonderful afternoon spent  at our Strawberry Tea where we serve scones (beautifully cooked by our cookery club) and tea.  This is our chance to say thank you for the fantastic jobs our helpers do for us in school.  They were served by some of our year 6 children and entertained by our many talented musicians.

Friday 12th July 2019

As we prepare for the end of term our Governors are coming in to school to meet subject leaders and look at the impact of our work.  This might involve looking at books, subject leader plans or talking with children about their learning.  Today one of our governors, Sarah-Jane, spent some time with Mr McKenzie evaluating the impact of our maths initiatives. Great feedback from our children talking positively about our new approaches.

Thursday 11th July 2019

Our first ever Aspirations day was hugely successful. We spent the morning learning about the different types of jobs there are and the skills we would need. In the afternoon we held a jobs fair where we were able to speak to different people about their careers and use some of the objects they need to be able to do their jobs.

Wednesday 10th July 2019

Today we welcomed  20 members of our local community into school for a roast dinner and apple crumble lunch.  After a welcome speech from our School Captains, Mattie and Sophie, the year 6 children served the food and ate with them. Following lunch the Reception, year 1 and year 2 children entertained our guests sharing their learning and a song or two.

A wonderful morning seeing the children experience their new classes for September as part of our transition programme.  A very warm welcome to Mrs Boyce and Mrs Jones who have enjoyed getting to know their first classes at Crondall Primary.

Mrs Boyce and her new year 4 ‘to be’ class                          Mrs Jones and her nearly year 1 class.

Tuesday 2nd July

I had the pleasure of taking 36 children to our first District Sports event today.  We competed in a variety of track and field events across the afternoon cheered on by friends and family.  An outstanding performance by all children. More photos and a full report will be in this weeks newsletter.

Thursday 20th June

Duckling update – Our ducklings will be with us for a little while longer as Miss Wood is adopting them permanently.   Year 1 and 2 are continuing to enjoy learning all about them they really are experts.  Lucky, our duckling who was very weak, is now strong and living with her duckling family.

It was great to see so many Dads and special male family and friends at our KS1 event this morning.  They learnt all about spelling and phonics teaching and played some fun games too.

Tuesday 18th June 2019

Today we welcomed two A-level students from Lord Wandsworth College to work with some of our year 5 children designing a software package for our school to use.  We decided on one to support learning in Spanish and one to support maths.  Our year 5 team had some great ideas on this and  are look forward to be involved in the trials and help to finalise the software in November.

The pond mural design winners started to paint and draw their designs on to wood.  They worked exceptionally hard with Mrs Smith and the designs are looking stunning already!

Friday 14th June 2019

A lot of sporting action in the playground this afternoon as some of our Key Stage 2 children had some coaching to support them with preparations for our District Sports competition in July.  Coach Dan gave strategies to support their events: Sprinting, long jump and throwing the howler. They will be continuing to have coaching regularly up until the event – Go team Crondall!

Wednesday 12th June 2019

Wow – stunning art work taking place in year 4.  They have become shark experts and have been creating amazing habitats for their chosen shark species.  I can’t wait to see the finished pieces.

Meanwhile year 6 have been writing their own music based on a podcast by Chris Watson that they listened to earlier in the week on ‘Oceans of noise’.  Their final pieces were thoughtfully composed.  Well done year 6.

Monday 10th June 2019

I have just spent some time with our year 1 duck experts as they share their learning experiences with year 5.  They were very knowledgeable and we all enjoyed watching the ducklings have their ‘swimming lesson’.

Some of you are aware that one of our ducklings, Lucky, took a while to hatch and is not as strong as the other ducklings.  We have been hand rearing her since Friday and Miss Wood looked after her at the weekend.  She is getting stronger day by day and I am enjoying sharing my office with her and looking after her in the day.

Thursday 6th June 2019

Today we welcomed Mums and special ladies into school for our annual KS2 Mum’s morning.  Our focus was looking at how we teach maths at school and sharing ideas on strategies to use at home.  It was lovely to see the children working with their family member.
